Zubee - our sweetheart with a cute cowlick
How does it work?
About every 6 weeks, this brave trio rides down to the Pets Emergency Hospital in Greeley to donate a portion of their doggy blood. The process does not take very long, and is as comfortable and caring for the dogs as possible! Afterwards, the dogs receive a great deal of praise, replenishing food and drinks, and rest!
The red blood cells are separated from the plasma in the dog’s blood. This is because the red blood cells alone can be crucial to saving sick or injured dogs who are low on red blood cells. The plasma from blood can help dogs with blood clotting issues or parvo, as well as serve many other important purposes.
These three wonderful goldens are able to donate their blood because they have the universal dog blood type.
If you think that your dog may qualify to donate blood and wish to participate, please check out canineblooddonors.com for more info and to get started! The test to determine if your dog is the correct blood type is free!
